Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro 45 mm

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is Samsung’s 2022 outdoor-focused smartwatch. It offers a titanium case, sapphire crystal, a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen, a 590 mAh battery, GPX route support and 5ATM + IP68. Tests and long-term owner reviews highlight battery life; GPS use shortens it noticeably, and software connection problems are reported over the years.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro comes only in 45 mm, in Bluetooth (SM-R920) and LTE (SM-R925) versions. The Best Buy Canada reviews belong to the LTE Black model. The Galaxy Watch5 (40/44 mm aluminium) and the Golf Edition are different products.

Specifications

SpecificationValue
Case and colourTitanium case with D-Buckle Sport Band; Black Titanium or Gray Titanium

The D-Buckle band uses a folding clasp so the strap sits at the same point every time, in place of a standard pin buckle.

Display1.4-inch (34.6 mm) 450 × 450 Super AMOLED; full-colour Always On Display; sapphire crystal

Sapphire crystal resists scratches better than mineral and aluminosilicate glass; the raised bezel around the screen protects the glass from knocks.

Processor and memoryExynos W920 dual-core 1.18 GHz; 1.5 GB RAM, 16 GB storage
Battery and charging590 mAh (typical); WPC-based fast wireless charging

Samsung says the battery is 60% larger than the Galaxy Watch4’s.

SoftwareLaunched with Wear OS 3.5 and One UI Watch 4.5; needs an Android 8.0+ phone with more than 1.5 GB of RAM

Wear OS 3 and later do not work with iPhone. Blood pressure and ECG work only in markets supported by Samsung Health Monitor and with Galaxy phones.

SensorsSamsung BioActive (optical heart rate, electrical heart signal, bioelectrical impedance); temperature sensor; accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, light

Bioelectrical impedance analysis estimates values such as body fat and skeletal muscle; results are not for medical diagnosis.

ConnectivityLTE (LTE model); Bluetooth 5.2; Wi-Fi 2.4 + 5 GHz; NFC; GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo
NavigationGPX route import (Route Workout), turn-by-turn directions and Track Back

Track Back follows the recorded path in reverse to help you return to the start.

Durability5ATM + IP68; MIL-STD-810H

5ATM covers surface water activities such as swimming, not diving or high-pressure water. MIL-STD-810H is a set of military test methods, not a guarantee of impact resistance.

Size and weight45.4 × 45.4 × 10.5 mm; 46.5 g (without band)

Strengths and limitations

  • Tom’s Guide measured a little over three days of battery in regular use, while hikes and bike rides drained it faster. DC Rainmaker’s early launch test suggested GPS battery life is about half of Samsung’s 20-hour figure and everyday use closer to 2.5 days than 3.5; the same test found GPS accuracy not bad and better than the Apple Watch Series 7.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Among long-term owners on Best Buy Canada, TheQ42 still gets about three days with AOD off after using it since launch, and BillS53 gets several days in battery saver with One UI 8. AverageGamer reports only small scratches on the bezel after more than three years without a case, and Try2win2025 says the glass has survived knocks. On the critical side, Try2win2025 says notification sync broke and responses slowed after two years, Watchlover finds it sluggish and glitchy, and A S22 could not reconnect it to a Galaxy S22 after an update. joed reports the screen turning fully yellow within two years, while Stevoe and Musicman0300 say the battery did not last a shift or faded after the first month.

Best Buy Canada LTE Black listing (2,834 reviews); low-rated and long-term reviews among the latest 300 were read. Most are syndicated from Samsung US and Best Buy US, some marked as promotional. Open-box/refurbished and restocking-fee complaints were not counted as product findings. Individual reports; no failure rate was drawn.
