When closed it shows notifications and widgets and acts as a viewfinder for the rear cameras; unsupported apps can be enabled through the Samsung Labs setting. Because of the cutout at the bottom, the visible area is about 95% of the full rectangle.

Dust protection is not rated; Samsung does not advise beach or pool use.
