Technology glossary

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

AMD’s desktop processor for the AM5 socket. It has 16 cores and 32 threads, and 128 MB of L3 cache.

AMD lists a 4.3 GHz base clock and a 5.7 GHz maximum single-core boost clock. Default TDP is 170 W; the processor supports DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0.

In a prebuilt computer, real speed depends on the maker’s power settings and cooling. A processor name alone does not determine a system’s performance.

ASUS ROG G1000 (2026)

The ROG G1000 is a large 104-liter tower. This Canadian-code configuration has a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, a ROG GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7, 2 × 32 GB DDR5 and a 2 TB SSD. The CPU’s 420 mm liquid cooler sits in its own compartment, and the GPU and power supply have their own airflow zones. Standard parts make it upgradable. The 40 kg weight and the holographic side fan are worth planning around.
