Dual Mode (dual refresh mode)

An LG feature that lets a monitor switch between a higher resolution and a higher refresh rate at the press of a button.

The feature LG calls Dual-Hz or Dual Mode lets one monitor run in two ways. On the 32GS95UE the screen runs at 240 Hz at 3840 × 2160, or at 480 Hz at 1920 × 1080.

Switching is done with a hotkey or the joystick’s directional switch. At the lower resolution the GPU can render each frame faster, giving smoother, clearer motion in fast competitive games.

Because the fast mode lowers the full-screen resolution, desktop text and detailed game scenes look softer than in 4K mode. So the mode is mostly chosen for competitive games, and 4K mode for general use and image quality.
