Android 17

Google's Android 17 release (API level 37).

Android Developers describes Android 17 as the start of a transition to an 'intelligence system' that puts apps at the centre. With an adaptive-first development standard it brings app experiences to more form factors and introduces changes in privacy, security, media, camera and performance.

Android 17 is API level 37. Among the behaviour changes affecting all apps, the developer documentation lists app memory limits based on the device's total RAM; Google writes that the limits target memory leaks and outliers, aiming to prevent system-wide stuttering and higher battery drain.
