Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE (SM-R420)

The Galaxy Buds3 FE are Samsung’s 2025 affordable noise-cancelling wireless earbuds. They pair the Buds3 Pro’s stem design with a sealed silicone-tip fit, and offer active noise cancelling, ambient sound, Bluetooth 5.4 and the Samsung Seamless Codec, with IP54 earbuds. Testing praised the noise cancelling and balanced sound; full features need a Galaxy phone, and there is no app support on iPhone.

Silicone tips seal the ear canal, blocking outside sound passively and helping bass sound fuller; if the tip does not seal, noise cancelling and bass both weaken.

ANC uses microphones to detect outside sound and plays inverted sound to reduce steady noise such as engines and hum. Ambient sound lets you hear your surroundings without removing the earbuds. Adaptive ANC that adjusts to the environment is not listed for this model.

Samsung’s times come from internal tests with pre-production units and default settings; rated capacity is 50 mAh per earbud and 500 mAh for the case. Real runtime depends on volume, codec and battery age.

Samsung notes some features may be unavailable on non-Samsung devices. Equaliser, ANC settings and AI features are managed in the Galaxy Wearable app or One UI settings.

Strengths and limitations

  • SoundGuys measured about 66% of outside noise blocked passively with well-fitting tips and about 86% with ANC on, a step above the Buds3 Pro. Playback lasted 4 h 26 min with ANC on and just under 6 hours with it off (below Samsung’s figures). The tuning was balanced and more refined than its pricier siblings. The earbuds stayed comfortable for hours. On iPhone there is only basic Bluetooth: no EQ, no ANC controls and no AI features; the SSC codec needs a current Galaxy phone.

Owner experiences and issues

  • Owner reviews shown at Best Buy Canada split most on fit: Gebear and buzz420 could not get a seal despite trying all three tip sizes (buzz420 also aftermarket tips), and Gebear returned them; Jake K and PotatoSAlad67 found the fit secure. On noise cancelling, GalaxyJesse and SaiyainX1 were very positive while Jyoti and Aizen01 found it weak; Aizen01 says it got worse after the latest update, and Sweet tea reports losing ANC after half a year plus separate Bluetooth problems. PotatoSAlad67 and DGCH found the bass weak, Seraphax the pinch control inconsistent, and BudsFE the battery life very poor.
